CAMS-84 Evaluation
CAMS-84 started to evaluate the global model C-ifs run by ECMWF in England. This is a model that generates global air pollution alerts, and which is relevant to among other things, UV radiation and climate. MET's contribution is to evaluate aerosol concentrations globally using various observations that are available in the AeroCom database. Since 2016, CAMS-84 has also helped to evaluate the regional models, including those used in CAMS-50 and CAMS-71.
Evaluation of models is important for the users' understanding of how good the products are. Users therefore receive evaluation reports for free at regular three-month intervals, where it shows how well the model data corresponds with that has been observed.
The project will finance approx one position at MET.
