NowWind

NowWind is one of the projects supported through the ENERGIX program which solely supports research and innovation projects on renewable energy. 

NowWind is a collaboration between industry and science, with the main objective of improving the forecast used for wind power production and turbine loads. A detailed and accurate forecast is important for planning energy production, intra-day trading and for financial decisions. This is also crucial for a robust integration of wind energy in energy networds. 

Members of the project's consortium represent the whole value chain from Meteorologists to policy makers. 

The Institute of Meteorology's main work in NowWind is to integrate nowcasting with a numerical weather prediction model. Several of the forecasting variables on the nowcasting system will be available on our open source thredds server.
