Abstract submission
WISE 2021
Dear all,
all of us have been following the evolution of the pandemic. Using our
usual words, the conditions are waving up and down, with a delayed
reaction to any action we take. It is not doubt (from the purely technical
point of view) a very interesting subject, that I am sure many are
pursuing. However, contrarily to our modelling, the boundary conditions
and the human factor make the problem much more complicated.
Going to practical matters, exploring the general situation, the obvious
immediate solution is vaccination. This is advancing with different
efficiency in our various countries. Towards the end of the Summer many of
us should have received their vaccine (I had my second jab one week ago).
This suggests we should still be able to aim at a physical meeting.
To frame fully the situation. No doubt something must be done in
September. With Øyvind we plan a "real" meeting in Bergen with of course
remote connection (details in due time). Therefore, real or fully virtual,
this is the call for abstracts for the WISE 2021 meeting to be held in
Bergen, Norway, on 5-9 September 2021. The local host will be Øyvind
Breivik, of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. Details and website in
due time, when we will also know better the situation. For the time being
two deadlines.
1) abstracts to be submitted to myself, luigi.cavaleri@ismar.cnr.it,
by Monday, May 31. It sounds as an odd date, but, granted the time shift, it is the usual schedule. I will be back to each submitter less than one month later.
However, 2) more important is the second deadline: we need to know within
a couple of weeks at most, better if at once, if you are planning, or
consider possible, a physical attendance. We need a minimum number to
organise a "physical" meeting, and this must be known as soon as possible.
Kind regards
Luigi Cavaleri
